Nick Wakeling Tours the REC to Discuss Sustainable Communities for the Future

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA

Nick Wakeling, Shadow Minister for Environment and State Member for Ferntree Gully, Victoria, met with Directors Mark Yates and Mark Jacobsen from Replas at the Replas Environmental Center  (REC) in Carrum Downs Victoria. The REC is a learning tour that explains the benefits of using Replas products around communities.

With plastic use on the rise and the Chinese National Sword program blocking future plastic waste imported to China, the topic of discussion was how do we create a sustainable community that reduces, re-uses, and recycled plastic. Nick has continued to be a passionate and dedicated representative for the Knox and Ferntree Gully community, which made the obvious goadl to have Victorians prioritise their thoughts about plastic waste. With members of the community regarding, the selection, and procurement of recycled plastic products, then they become the true recycler. There are big challenges ahead, as in what to do with the growing post-consumer plastic market. Nick and the Replas Directors are a great example of how Replas is reaching out and educating councils, schools, and architects on the advantages of using recycled plastic to make into their community products.
