Hon Lily D’Ambrosio is the state Minister for Environment, Energy & Climate Change and she attended our facilities at the REC with the Carrum Downs MP – Sonya Kilkenny and Dominik Nicholls, Senior Manager of Resource Recovery at Department of Environment, Land, Water & Planning.
The group attended the meeting in the hope to gain a greater insight into Replas and to listen to the pain points Replas experiences with engaging industries and stimulating markets. This meeting presented a ‘thought starter’ with 5 potential solutions for ensuring responsibility of our plastic packaging waste was treated as a resource and not waste by improving procurement of our recycled plastic products.
The Minister had some great questions and was genuinely interested in assisting the growth and exposure of Replas to ensure LGA’s are armed with knowledge when making decisions on whether to continue to purchase timber and other materials or seek an alternative to ‘Closing The Loop’ on their recycling programs by purchasing recycled plastic products. Replas would like to thank Lily, Keira, Sonya, and Dominik in taking the time to educate themselves and now the public on the importance of creating this Circular Economy.
