On the 2nd of April, Simplot Australia, Replas and Red Group met at the Replas Environmental Centre for a tour and to see and understand what happens to the soft plastic Simplot produce, that gets recycled. Simplot also had a look at the different products produced through Replas to encourage their engineering teams to be part of the Circular Economy and Close the Loop. Liz Kasell, Director of Red Group said, “in five years of partnership between Simplot and REDcycle, Australian consumers have returned over 7.5 million pieces of Bird’s Eye packaging through the REDcycle Program.” Simplot Australia is also one of the first companies to come on board with Red Group, making them foundation members. They are determined to be accountable and responsible in driving a greater demand for recycled plastic products with their involvement in soft plastic manufacturing and their recycling efforts with REDcycle.

“The Simplot Australia story began in 1995 when the J.R. Simplot Company expanded into Australia, acquiring iconic brands like Birds Eye, Leggo’s, Chiko and Edgell. Our Company has continued to grow with the addition of brands like John West. Today our uniquely diverse business includes vegetable, meat and seafood manufacturing operations that supply chilled, frozen and shelf stable products to Australia’s major supermarkets and Foodservice customers. We are proud of the investment we are making in the future of Australia through our Australian manufacturing operations.”
