Today we had four classes of grade 4 students from Toorak Primary visit the Replas Environmental Centre to further their studies on recycling. The students got to learn all about the impact plastic waste has on our environment through the tunnel experience. The students were also lucky enough to have a workshop with Regina, an Environmental Consultant from EnviroCom. Regina taught them all about how to recycle correctly. The students also visited a landfill site on the day to see where so much of our plastic waste ends up. The students could not understand why we create so much plastic, for it to only end up in landfill. They were very excited to learn that there are alternatives to putting their soft plastic rubbish in the bin. The students were going to be using everything they learnt at the Replas Environmental Centre as part of their persuasive writing projects, to convince others why they should purchase products made from recycled material.
